Take advantage of ARHS’s many resources to help you improve or maintain your health. There is something for everyone! We can support your goals, whatever they may be.

Love Your Life (LYL)

Move towards better health through our Love Your Life outcomes-based incentive program. LYL promotes healthy living through behavioral, educational, and risk reduction activities. When you join LYL, you receive an individualized health summary based on a comprehensive Health Assessment and health screening including a multi-panel blood draw test and biometric screening. Afterwards, you’ll receive a Health Score and a Health Goal to work towards health improvement each year. All ARHS employees are welcome to join and can earn substantial rewards throughout the year for participation and meeting goals.

Interactive Health

Interactive HealthAs a participant in our Love Your Life wellness program, you’ll have access to a variety of health resources from our partners at Interactive Health. Through Interactive Health, you can earn Wellness Credits, which can be used towards Health Savings Account deposits, membership or services at our Broyhill Wellness Center or the Avery County YMCA, or towards health/fitness merchandise sold online. You also have access to their Health Coaches, monthly webinars, Health Logs, Wellness Workshops, and so much more. Interactive Health makes healthy living attainable and health improvements achievable.

During collaborative one on one sessions, you’ll work within a supportive environment to establish your health vision, 3 months goals, and weekly goals to get you feeling your best! Show Me the Weigh – AHA Worksite Innovation Award (2014)

Show Me the WeighDo you want the support of others while you work on weight loss? Show Me the Weigh is an 8-week, multi-disciplinary program which focuses on lifestyle changes for successful weight management. Weekly classes are held in groups and topics focus on nutrition, fitness, and environmental support strategies for successful weight loss. Look for program dates announced in your email.


Fresh From The Farm (Spring Registration)

Fresh From the FarmGet freshly harvested fruits and vegetables delivered to your worksite doorstep! Fresh From the Farm is a unique worksite CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) program which supports our local farmers. Each spring, you can join by paying a set fee for produce ahead of time (established by the farmer). Then, during the spring/summer months, farmers deliver your veggie box to the hospital drop off location. Look for enrollment emails in late winter/early spring. Payroll deduction available.


Tobacco Cessation (Available year round)

Quit TobaccoAre you ready to quit? You can receive one-on-one behavioral support and free Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) to help with quitting tobacco. Choose from between the patch or the gum once per fiscal year. Other options are available by prescription for those on the ARHS health plan (copays and deductibles may apply). To access this benefit, contact Employee Wellness at least 1 week prior to quit date.


THRIVE Wellness

ThriveLet’s take the journey together! THRIVE Wellness is a 6-month clinical weight-loss program provided for qualifying employees and spouses enrolled in Love Your Life. Your team of Exercise Physiologists, Clinical Dietitians, and Behavioral Health Specialists are here to help you succeed through one on one coaching, personalized exercise prescription and dietary goals. Look for your email invitation from Employee Wellness when our next cohort begins.

Additional ARHS Programs

  • Employee Assistance Program (263-0121) – The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) can help you understand and cope with those difficult family, legal, stress or drug and alcohol problems that are too much for your friends and relatives to help you with. EAP counselors are trained and experienced. The counselors all have attained Masters Degrees in Human Service fields along with licensure and/or certifications in appropriate areas of counseling.
  • Broyhill Wellness Center (266-1060) – More than just a gym! The fitness center includes indoor track, therapy pool, lap pool, racquetball court, a variety of fitness classes, a fully equipped cardio gym, locker rooms, and childcare services. You also have access to massage therapy, personal training and programs like CrossFit and THRIVE. As an employee, you receive a discount off monthly membership.
  • YMCA of Avery County (737-5500) – We aim to offer a space that you and your family can enjoy in a way that is healthy in spirit, mind, and body. Our wellness center features top-of-the-line exercise machines, resistance equipment, free weights and an indoor track. You also have access to our indoor pool, group exercise classes (which include Pilates, BOBDYPUMP, Spinning, Yoga, and more), locker rooms, and childcare. As an employee, you receive a discount off monthly membership.
